I'm still looking

I'm still looking

2005-01-22 by josephex@josephexperimental.com

To the Casio Keyboards yahoo group, I'm new. I'm e-mailing both that group and the
CZsynth group right now about this issue.

I'm still looking for schematics of the CZ 101. Those of you on the CZsynth group
may remember I'm looking for them.

If I can't get them, is there someone here brave enough to open their CZ 101 up and
check something for me? There are two ribbon cables near the cartridge area. I just
want to find out if both are connected to a board on both ends, or if one of them is
supposed to be disconnected on one end.

Opening this synth up isn't as scary as it may sound. Then again, I normally kind of
know what I'm doing when I open up electronic stuff anyway.

I'm asking because one of mine is disconnected on one end and if it's supposed to
be connected, I think I may have found a problem (if not the problem) with my synth.

The casiokeyboard grouip is not yet familiar with my problem. I cannot access tones
9 - 16 by hitting the select key. It locks up when I try. It goes into tone mix mode and
gets stuck. I can access those banks when I choose to go into tone mix mode
though, so I know those tones are still there.

Unless I hear that you already know the answer, I'll open mine up
tomorrow morning (it's midnight here in Germany). I'm assuming that
if all cables are attached, that's all you need to know? I've opened
it a lot recently, so it's no big deal :o)

Just hang on for 12 hours or so...

Cheers

Do so if you'd like. I had one person tell me that all the ribbon cables are supposed
to be connected on each end, and they sent pictures to prove it. :-) So if you just
want to be another person to confirm that is correct, it'll help.

Re: [CZsynth] Re: I'm still looking

Good. I think I've found the problem.

I checked with the previous owner of the CZ 101, and he was
unaware that the ribbon cable was unattached. I hope he was at
least aware that the machine had been opened before, because it
was evident by another ribbon cable obstructing the cartridge slot.
