CZ-1is kind of noisey!

CZ-1is kind of noisey!

2005-04-04 by yazzofever

Has anyone else had problems with just a lot of internal circuit noise
coming out of the cz-1. Not talking about the clicking thing in
earlier posts-just a lot of white noise.

Is my cz-1 got something wrong with it or are all of your 20 year old
cz-1's starting to do the same thing?

sure sounds great though

Most of the 80s synths are pretty noisy compared to todays hardware. When it
comes to the CZ-1 turning off the internal chorus should help a lot to reduce it
but will not completely shut it off.

If the output is very weak and changing in Volume you might have a problem with
the Relais, that normaly prevents clicking after turning on the CZ...

Summa,

thanks for the response-no i think the relays are
alright, no clicking just background fuzz-you are
probably right, just another quirk about 80's
synths. My microkorg I use for comparison is so
quiet when turned up.

Summa-did you get my earlier post about the
cartridges on the cz-1 and how to replace the
battery? I need to do that on my RA-6 cartridge
but I don't know how.

You can add a noise gate to help clean things up.

Hi Micah,

well, most of my 80s synths are having a good amount of noise floor, my MT32 even
produce a slight high hum. Not audiable with the crappy mixer I used by that time
but not remotely as clean as todays synthesizers...
I never worked with cartridges, but I think I remember ppl. had a discussion
about that topic some time ago, you might find something by searching thru older
postings...
