VZ-8m and Sound Diver

VZ-8m and Sound Diver

2001-08-09 by Troy C

Any of y'all using Sound Diver with the VZ-8m? I can receive patches fine
but I'm having problems transmitting bulk dumps to the unit. I get a MIDI
receive error on the VZ-8m screen. The unit can receive a single tone to
it's edit buffer fine, it just won't except a bulk dump.

You might need to slow down sounddivers MIDI transmission rate. Not exactly
sure how you do this but most programs that send out sysx have a provision
for doing it.

Yeah, the default in Sound Diver for the VZ is 300 ms, I upped it to 600 and
still got the error. I still have some more things that I need to play
around with a bit, but in the meantime I was hoping someone would know if
there was some issue with Sound Diver and the VZ-8m before I do hours of
troubleshooting. I've had no problems doing dumps to my VZ-10m though, just
the VZ-8m.

Hummmmm....can you receive and send an entire bank through your sequencer?
That's how I always test things like this. Another thought is that the data
structure for the 8m and 10m banks are not the same, are you using a 10m SD
module with your 8m? That might explain the trouble also.

Well, it's working now. Not sure what I did, but I can say that the only
thing that's different is that I did the dump through a Midisport 8x8
instead of my Opcode Studio 128X.
Also seems that the bulk dump format for the VZ-1, VZ-10m, and VZ-8m are all
the same, and the banks are all completely interchangeable.
