hi everybody,

I will get a CZ-101 at the beginning of next week: )

i think this synth sounds good with my other gear, most analogue ones.

questions:

>compared the pd synthesis with the fm one?

>and,is here somebody from germany,eu too?i ask because i need a new

>powersupply for the cute.a new one that fits.

sorry for my bad english.

I think you'll like the CZ. It is not the same as FM-it is digital but with
a lot more analog character and warmth, and also the programming is the same
as analog. There are 8 stage envelopes, unlike analog which is 4, but you can
always use only 4 stages on the CZ to make it exactly like having analog
envelopes if you want.

Nice for bass, good deep sounds and quite a bit more warmth than FM. Just be
patient and take some time to learn how to use it and how to program it.

Well, the Yamaha FM implementation isn't realy FM it's Phase Modulation and Phase
Distortion is basicly Phase Modulation too. The best guess is that Casio uses a
sine shaper as carrier since the function fits perfectly to the description Casio
gives in the CZ-Series manuals.
A sine shaper is basicly a special version of an FM Carrier tuned down to 0Hz
(FS1R, TG77 and various FM softsynths can do that) but Casio probably haven't
used a sine as modulator but something what is able to do some waveform symmetry
stuff, maybe comparable to the G2 shape oscillator, it at least sound pretty
similar when using it at a Phase Oscillator tuned down to 0Hz...

Not exactly, since simulating one log/exp stage of an analog envelope needs more
than one linear CZ stage...

...Summa

Hi Will,

you sent me a very personal mail and it was impossible to reply, not directly nor
within yahoogroups. I prefere to solve this issue off list, if possible...

This might have been a missunderstanding, since I wasn't me who originaly sent
the question...
