FZ-10M screen

FZ-10M screen

2006-05-22 by crustypaul

I just got hold of a Casio FZ-10M and while i was pleased to find that
the backlight still works, i was very annoyed to find that the LCD
screen is blank and remains blank whatever i do. I've also got an FZ-1
so i know that it should start up and display the MAIN MENU screen but
i get nothing. I assume that the unit itself is actually working as
the drive starts up when i put a disk in.
I've tried the 'hold down display and move the value slider' to change
the contrast and i've taken out the connectors on the board and
reseated them, but theres just nothing there.
Has anyone else come across and fixed this problem? I'm assuming the
screen setup is the same as on a VZ.

I have a Hohner HS-1M which essentially is the same machine in
different casing.

I used this:
http://www.midi-rakete.de/eng/elfolie.htm

with success i might add.

He seems to have a different problem, since his backlight is working,
it might help if he adjusts the position or pressure between display
and plate...

Hmmmm, Rainer from http://www.buchty.net/casio/ who seems to have
spent an absurd amount of time dismantling FZ's even down to the IC's
and ROM coding, tells me, and i quote 'I would more think of the LCD
cabling having finally died -- just like on my FZ1. If you find a
method on how to replace that darn glued-to-the-LCD cable, let me know...'
So this doesn't look promising. If anyone has a spare FZ-10m or VZ-10m
screen board i'll be more than happy to take it off your hands.:)

erm, and its not a backlight problem, its a problem with the LCD
screen so a backlight isn't going to help, Akai or otherwise :)
