I think this is also a good idea to put good patches into an excel document, although I'm certainly not the one to implement it... If anyone else is like me, we picked up these synths knowing that they were capable of making a wide variety of sounds without necessarily knowing what we were getting into as far as designing these sounds. I downloaded a manual, but I have to admit I understand very little after trying to read it. I also don't know a whole lot about patches, as I'm sure others might not as well. I understand these are the parameters that "shape" the sounds, but I have no idea how to implement or adjust them using a computer interface, where software like this would be available, and only a vague notion of how to manually edit them on the display. If anyone is feeling up to the task of demystifying some of these factors for us newbies, it would be most appreciated. If I am missing out on a resource that already explains away some of these mysteries in more friendly terms than the manual, please point me in the right direction. --Austin Cliffe >From: "Patrick Wichrowski" <patrickillian2@...> >Reply-To: CZsynth@yahoogroups.com >To: CZsynth@yahoogroups.com >Subject: Re: [CZsynth] patches in excel >Date: Wed, 31 Jan 2007 19:20:11 -0200 > >It is a good idea :) > >2007/1/26, Felipe Afonso <felipe2205@...>: > > > > it is usefull to save patches for the ones that don't have a cable >midi. > > > > __________________________________________________ > > Fale com seus amigos de gra\ufffda com o novo Yahoo! I also think it's a great idea to save patches in an excel doc. Like you, I've picked up a CZ synth thinking it would be easy to program it. Most the time I've found this to be wrong. Granted it's easy to "mess around" with it until you find a sound you like, it's no easy thing to program it. I always try to find a patch close to the sound I need and then change it to fit my needs. I've been trying to program these things since I got a CZ-101 back in '85, and still can't get it right. Is there a software program out there that works for the CZ family of keyboard equimpment? Something VISUAL? Amazing it is that there's no Cubase for the CZ-1 or CZ-5000 yet. Whatever happened to that old Commodore Amiga program a long time ago? Someone could probably make a fair amount of money if they wrote the software to do this. --- In CZsynth@yahoogroups.com, "Austin Cliffe" <austin_cliffe@...> wrote: > > I think this is also a good idea to put good patches into an excel document, > although I'm certainly not the one to implement it... > > If anyone else is like me, we picked up these synths knowing that they were > capable of making a wide variety of sounds without necessarily knowing what > we were getting into as far as designing these sounds. Howdy, I've gotan old macintoch that was given to me yers ago with acz editor librarian in it. Whenever i try to use it it says it's busy doing somethingelse. So, it's been sitting in a box for about 15 years now. what to do, what to do. There are editors out there for the CZ synths. CZ-Droid is a free app that was written for Atari but it works with Windows using the Steem emulator. It gives a decent graphical representation of the synths envelopes. There are other editors too such as Midiquest and Unisyn. These must be purchased but they work very well. Unisyn has crapppy support. Midiquest has good support. I have 2,500 CZ101-CZ5000 patches from the web in my Midiquest library. Then I made 450 or so CZ1 patches that from this library by adding the velocity to the DCO,DCW, and DCA sections. The problem is that most people that are beginers would like to see the sounds like they are writen in "sound data book" with coments about why the envelopes are arranged in that way ando other detais! It would be a great help to wirte some sound in that format . Sounds like "Jump" , "Harp Laser" and other good sound examples ... not that "preset like" sounds that not make justice to the power of the CZ line. If had my CZ working and not fomated my HD , I would help :( ;) Patrick Wichrowski 2007/2/2, narfman96 <narfman96@...>: > > There are editors out there for the CZ synths. Howdy, Speaking of patches, back when the 101 was new, keyboard, or Mlectronic Musician would print patch data in their mags every once in a while for DX-7s 101s ,etc. The one that REALLY stuck out was called "log drum". If anyone has the numbers to enter that patch, I sure would like to get them. About half of my old keyboard mags got soaked in my garage 15 years ago and I fear that the patch data was in one of those ruined magazines. Anybody?
