FZ-1 Floopy Disk Drive question

FZ-1 Floopy Disk Drive question

2007-03-13 by Arthur Alexander Crichton

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

After reading your reply I thought I should try out the floppy drive
but I fear it doesn't work. When I stick a disk into the drive and
select format or save to disk nothing happens and it tells me "DISK IS
NOT READY"

I disconnected the drive from the FZ-1 and connected an old floppy
drive from my old PC to the FZ-1. When I stick a disc into that drive
and try to format or save to disc it tells me " DISK PROTECTED". I have
tried switching the protection tab to write on the disc but I still get
the same result.

Anyone know what the problem is?

PS.... I am using old disks that work on my PC.

Howdy,

I think you need to format the disc. If you can find
old 744 discs DD DD good. If you can only find 1.44
discs, you have to tape over a hole and then format
the disc. Then it should work

Hi,

you can't connect PC floppy drive directly to FZ-1, see

Howdy,

Is the motor actually spinningthe disc? you may want
to open the unit and make sure the belt is good. If it
uses one. I know I had to replace the belt in my
roland s-10. Listen to the machine. does it make a
smooth whirring noise when engaged? Or do you just
hear the motor running. You may want to check it out.

Hi,

When I insert a disk into the floppy drive I just hear the motor
running. The floppy drive reader does not seem to move.
