CZ3000 Problem

CZ3000 Problem

2008-03-03 by jaicensolo1983

Any idea what's causing my CZ to randomly re-set itself??

It turns on fine, and plays fine, but every now and then, it will
reset itself, and go back to internal patch A1 (Brass Ens). Also, the
Tone Mix, Key Split, Normal and MIDI buttons are always lit, but can
still be used.
Very strange I know, my first thought would be a power supply issue,
but the button thing makes me wonder. Of course it could be unrelated,
but I'd like to see if anyone else has any ideas.

My CZ5000 was doing this same thing. It was the rubber pad that is
glued to the center keyboard support under the top panel. It had fallen
into the synth because the glue was old. Then the top panel was
shorting out on the support causing the synth to reboot. The clue was
every time any pressure was put on the top button panel it reset. This
may not be the problem but it's a good place to start. This is
probably related to the lights being on when no one is home. There is a
short on the board somewhere to latch all those leds on.

Good luck, Fran

RE: [CZsynth] CZ3000 Problem

I haven't seen a schematic, but generally there's a circuit that will only allow the CPU to operate once the power supply has stabilized (so that it works properly when you turn it on). If the power supply is marginal or has an intermittent connection, it could cause this. It could be something else, but this is probably the most obvious place to look.
