Hi,C

You may not be suprised to know I have a CZ101 and CZ1000 and those are also machines I am after making editors for - of course I was based on Commodore's and had data sent to the CZ's to program them - but never got to write an editor - and now you know I have the Atari - I am heading down that route also...

i'm working on it ...thanks for the welcome-ing!!!
working on a good set of patches , then i will upload ... probally just as a
raw data file

is this cz 101 polyphonic in midi mode 4?

i can only get it to recieve four midi channels and then its mono ..
 which creates it character
but
limits me from playing any of previouslly written songs the way i have
written them .?

The CZ-101/1000 is 4-voice multi-timbral in MIDI mode 4, but each MIDI channel is monophonic. I once heard a demo of a sequenced string quartet played in real time from a single CZ-101.

Incidentally, in layer mode you can get a useful pedal steel guitar effect using a sound with a long release time and
applying portamento to held notes. Layer mode is duophonic, so by letting one note ring and playing a legato phrase over it you get the typical harmonic movement of a pedal steel. This is very difficult if not impossible to achieve on most synths, but the CZ is a notable exception.

Re: [CZsynth] hellogroup i'm new

these are the answers i am looking for ,
monophonic is very dificult for

guitar or chord voicings ,

 great for leads and drums..

ok i am happy with these answers
and don't have any trouble accepting that each instrument has a unique
feature/property
that removes it from being alike any others.

cz101 you're a good find and more than easy to work with.

Re: [CZsynth] hellogroup i'm new

Hi charlie. im James. i am a member of the group. I got to say the Casio CZ 101 is fun. once you start messing with the features, you will love to play it. check out http://www.youtube.com for good videos ofo the Casio CZ 101. . if you type in casio CZ 101 under the search box you will see a lot of good videos there on that web site.
keep in touch charlie. the CZ is a really fun keyboard. I know also you can modify it with circuit bending techniques. (soldering). I want to do that on just plain circuit boards when I am advanced enough to learn how to solder keyboards that will be my next hobby next to recording audio with my synths and keyboards.
Also, I read that you program. Atari used to make really good video game systems way back when. I still own my old Atari 2600 games. the cartridges are still intact. the systems do not work anymore. but those are games....the music for those games i still would love to hear. (since the systems are busted in my basement). anyways, hope you have fun with your CZ 101.
PS: Midi- rules! :) I love creating new sounds out of VSTi's and midi tools! Hardware and software are merging which means that the future of electronics is very advanced.
well have fun.

-James-
