Wanted: Casio Pro-Tone Data Book

2010-04-04 by beach_bum7721

Anybody know where this can be gotten? Whether a physical copy or download?

It was a "cookbook" with sounds for CZ keyboards.

Cover looks like this:

Sample page inside booklet:

Thank you!

Never seen that before, but I used to program all my own CZ sounds, and I compiled a ring binder full of patch sheets. One day I'll scan them and post them on line. They include percussion such as vibraslap, timbale and bongos, a pretty good grand piano (quite convincing in the bass; a bit tinny towards the top), guitars, organs, electric pianos, strings, woodwind, brass and even a Mellotron! I was very much into imitative (rather than abstract) synthesis, so I tried to get as close as possible to real instruments, and I think I did quite well. The Mellotron sound even cuts off after 8 seconds, just like the real thing!

Is it the soundbook that was part of the CZ-1 package?

I have this book. I bought it when I was 14 years old!
The best I can do is try to scan it for you.

Re: Wanted: Casio Pro-Tone Data Book

No, it's different. I believe the one that came with it is the "CZ Sound Data Book"
See files. I just uploaded it. I think it just contained hard copy of the built-in sounds of the CZ synth.

The Pro Tone Data Book is exactly like it, just with "new" sounds, meaning different from the factory pre-set sounds.

Re: Wanted: Casio Pro-Tone Data Book

2010-04-04 by beach_bum7721

Hey man,

Inside this book, there should be a guitar patch with this comment at the bottom: "use with distortion pedal." I'd love to have the whole book, but, if I couldn't have the whole book, I'd love to have the data for just that one guitar patch.

If you can scan, my fax number is 860-735-6222 or perhaps you can upload to this Yahoo group?

THANK YOU!

& I would be in your debt.

I just uploaded the guitar patch that you were looking for to the files
section. It's a little funky looking because I was having some issues with
my scanner not working properly with Windows 7, but I think I have it all
figured out. I'm in the process of scanning the entire book, and I'll be
uploading that shortly.

Got it! THANKS, MAN!!!!!!!! I really appreciate it. Copy looks great. You totally ROCK!!!!!!!

The reason I wanted this patch is b/c I found this vid on youtube. His name is CZRider and he totally shreds his CZ and if you look in the comments he says he uses this very patch:

http://www.youtube.com/user/CZRider01#p/u/6/71O8MSZ1AAk

Photo of his rig in the Photos section, also.

THANK AGAIN for the upload!!! You can't find this book ANYWHERE (without paying a ridiculous price). Later!

Re: Wanted: Casio Pro-Tone Data Book

2010-04-12 by steve_the_composer

I just uploaded the sheet for Elec. Guitar 3 which is nearly identical. This variation is in the Sound Data Book that has 075C SA on the bottom of the back cover. The booklet has 81 Sound Data sheets. I also have a Sound Data Book that has SA0402061A on the back cover. This one has 49 Data Sheets and was made with the CZ-1 in mind. The template has boxes for Velocity. I will scan and upload the table of contents. Perhaps someone wants to make a table of all known CZ Data Sheet from the various books.

Re: Wanted: Casio Pro-Tone Data Book

I just uploaded the Table of Contents. I spot checked some of the patches from the 075C SA booklet with the pdf booklet in the files section (the one that claims to be a CZ-1 booklet). Patches with identical names as the ones in my book seem to be identical (with the exception of minor differences, such as transposed waveforms - first: 2 second: 3 v. first: 3 second: 2).
