Can anybody recommend an editor for the CZ that works well with Macs? Thanks.

Motu's Unisyn has been good over the years, but now I use Emagic's SoundDiver. Both of these programs are ancient - although they do run on my intel imac with 10.6.x...

Hi there! I have the same problem... I found this editor, but not sure whether it works all that well, but it is free! I have not tried it yet as I first have to find a solution for the relay problem of my CZ-1. http://home.arcor.de/jayjayevans/czeditor/ --- In CZsynth@yahoogroups.com, "cz101forever" <mole_org@...> wrote:

Hello, did you tryied MidiQuest 10 ? On DVD is also large collection of sysEx sounds for the casio synths. http://www.soundquest.org/ Have nice day. Jan [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Has anyone gotten this to work (with the CZ-1)? I've been trying for a while now, it seems the synths sysex isn't the greatest or is basic and doesn't allow it to work properly with Midiquest. I hope I'm wrong, I would love to use this synth with an editor... --- In CZsynth@yahoogroups.com, "orgone2k" <orgone2k@...> wrote:

CZ synths have passive SysEx dump, and also need handshake MIDI SysEx protocol with confirmation message after each data block. I don't know if Midiquest can do it - check its manual. Daniel Forro

the CZ synths are extremely easy to program without any editor.. really! once you master the synth you can imagine a sound and it takes you a minute to create. the only thing that might be confusing at first are the envelopes. just learn to use those and you be pulling of great sounds in less time it takes you to get your editor running... really. i see no need for using an editor (exept for storing patches), since it's so simple and userfriendly directly from the synth. take your time and learn the envelopes (SUS and END fuctions!), and you will be revarded! -michael 12.1.2012 8:20, c.jones1078 kirjoitti: > > Has anyone gotten this to work (with the CZ-1)? > I've been trying for a while now, it seems the synths sysex isn't the > greatest or > is basic and doesn't allow it to work properly with Midiquest. > > I hope I'm wrong, I would love to use this synth with an editor... > > --- In CZsynth@yahoogroups.com <mailto:CZsynth%40yahoogroups.com>, > "orgone2k" <orgone2k@...> wrote: > > > > Can anybody recommend an editor for the CZ that works well with > Macs? I tried using Midiquest but it would only upload the first 16 or 32 patches from the CZ-1. It's been a while so I can't remember the exact number. What frustrated me the most is that all the velocity settings were ignored. I tried working with MQ support and they weren't any help at all. I used Unisyn to save the single patches from the 450 patch CZ-1 collection I uploaded here to the files area. However every patch was tweaked by using the front panel on the synth. At least Unisyn didn't ignore the velocity settings and allowed me to convert each patch to a sysex file. There's also Sounddiver but I'm not sure if the editor supported all of the CZ-1 parameters. Plus to get it to run on a newer Mac you needed an XS key and the public beta version Apple had available has long ago disappeared from the web. Hopefully you've checked out the patch collection available here. The CZ-1 is a very expressive synth and much easier to master than say Yamaha's FM gear. If you have any questions or want to work on any sounds let me know. I would also like to hear any of your creations if you're into sharing your work. Hi Michael, I agree, dead easy when you get your head round them, a lot simpler programming method than Yamaha FM.
