I had a CZ-1 for a number of years, having previously owned a CZ-101 whcih stopped working. I never quite got used to the feel of the touch response, but it was a fantastic synth, and most of my home-made CZ-101 patches sounded great without much modification (I had them written out on paper). One thing which I liked on the 101 which the CZ-1 lacked was its duophonic layer mode, which gave the possibility of realistic pedal steel guitar sounds if you used it with portamento and a long release time. It meant that you could let one note ring while playing a legato melody over it which would slide realistically. Oh well.

Subject: [CZsynth] The CZ-1 arrived today
Unpacked my CZ-1 today. From all I've read I'm pretty excited. Haven't had a
chance to do much yet but scroll through the presets - many of which I found
pleasantly surprising. Tomorrow I'll begin working through the Manual and
the other PDF resources I've found on the web so far.
This is also the first Yahoo group I've joined (more used to forums), so I'm
a bit unsure about the procedure - but I'm sure it'll become clear soon
enough.
Cheers,
James
