Can someone please upload a pic showing the solder locations for the - and + battery terminal wires on the Casio CZ-1000? I would really like to repair my CZ-1000 so I can make use of the internal memory.

Bump, someone please help me on this. A photo on the contacts will only take a moment of your time. Im not asking for detailed instructions, just an image. --- In CZsynth@yahoogroups.com, "JoeL" <vinylmuse1984@...> wrote:

Here is a photo set of an open CZ-1000: http://www.flickr.com/photos/78842015@N00/sets/72157611575663013/ The pictures are not fabulous, but they may give you enough hints about where to look. You can be on the lookout for one red and one black wire that are not connected to anything. Maybe someone else has a CZ-1000 and can get you a real photo of just the right thing? --- In CZsynth@yahoogroups.com, "JoeL" <vinylmuse1984@...> wrote:

You have my curiousity. I have never had a CZ-1000, but I am wondering if it is marked on the board. Also, I am wondering what kind of battery/ies it uses and if it has a battery compartment. If it has a battery compartment, I would hope that its location might be helpful in locating where the connections are or should be. (Too bad there isn't a service manual for the CZ-1000 with circuit board drawings.)

The CZ-1000 uses six D-cell batteries which can power the unit in lieu of the 110v transformer, and iirc, also provides power for the internal memory. Meaning that if you pull the batteries (or they die) while the unit is not plugged in, you lose any user programmed patches. Haven't pulled mine out of the closet recently, but I'm fairly certain that there is no internal battery on the PCB. Though I'm always prepared to be wrong...

The original author stated that the battery connections for the D batteries had been ripped from the circuit board by a previous owner. It was not an internal battery issue. I had to search the list history to find the reference to the original problem. Here is what he originally said: > Hi, I own a CZ-1000 and It appears the previous owner > yanked out the battery terminal contacts from the solder > points on the board accidently. It sounds like the red and black wires that went from the D batteries to the PCB were yanked out leaving nothing behind. The author needs to know where those wires should connect. --- In CZsynth@yahoogroups.com, davisk96@... wrote:

After I posted the message, I found some jpgs on line of the service manual--schematics, but not board layouts. Still, it might be possible by looking at the connections in the schematics to see where the leads were connected. Hope we find out if the problem was resolved. Thank you, I have taken a look at the jpgs from the service manual schematics and I simply do not understand it well enough to conclude the battery terminal locations. I may have a friend who might be able to. --- In CZsynth@yahoogroups.com, "steve_the_composer" <smw-mail@...> wrote:

I would imagine you can still see the points that the battery terminals were ripped away from, so it's just an issue of finding the right polarity, correct? A minor amount of detective work by following some of the traces should give this away fairly easily. Just look at the orientation of any polarized capacitors connected to the traces that go to the battery leads. --- In CZsynth@yahoogroups.com, "steve_the_composer" <smw-mail@...> wrote:

I can try to do this but like I mentioned, im no electical engineer. I cannot translate any electrical schematics, read out capasitor/resister orientations or anything of the sort. A picture is worth a thousand words, so if it is possible for the benefit of not just me but the entire group please upload one. --- On Fri, 5/20/11, Joe J <freshcupofjoe@...> wrote:
