help - out of tune

help - out of tune

2002-03-06 by unvle

for some reason my cz-101 sounds slightly out of tune and I dont know
what it could be, also the master tune buttons don't actually do
anything and I'm a bit puzzled (saying that the master tune buttons
have never done anything since I've had it possibly due to a battery
leak so I don't know what they're supposed to do) does anyone have
any suggestions of what I might be able to do. any help would be
greatly appreciated.
cheers

Holding them both down while the keyboard is on will reinitialize the tuning
to A=440.

cheers scott, its useful to know that, but I decided to crack the
thing open last night and have a route around with my DVM and found
one of the wires in the ribbon cable had corroded through, replaced
it with a bit of wire and now its sorted.

On a related note I think that there is sysx string that can be sent to the
CZ to initialize tuning. Couldn't tell you what it is off the top of my head
though.

Yeah I saw that in the manual, in the midi send and recieve charts it
says the cz can recieve but not send the master tune data, thats all
I could find about it, I presume its assigned to a certain controller
number but which one?

RE: [CZsynth] Re: help - out of tune

2002-03-08 by Furman, Jon W.

No I don't think it is a continuous controller. It's a sysx string and I
can't remember if it just resets the tuning to A=440Hz or if it lets you
tune over a range. It exists though as I used to have it embedded in my
default cakewalk template so that all my CZs got auto tuned every time I
started cakewalk. Someone might have loaded a CZ sysx chart in the files
area of this group, you may find the string there.

i just looked it up in my casio "guidebook for midi". master tune is
indeed a continuous controller with the casio cz series. it is
controller #6, but the cz's only receive and not transmit it.
