Loading VZ-1 Patches

Loading VZ-1 Patches

2012-06-04 by stephen

Hi Guys ,

i`m in need of a little help , i`ve recently downloaded some free VZ-1 patches and was wondering how i transmit the systex to the synth... i think they are .vz1 file format ... now i`m a little bit baffled !! (it was not like this in the good old Atari days :-)..) ...

for the info i`m a p.c. user running Cubase 5 ...

Cheers

Steve

I have seen a VZ editor that runs in Steem. I am not sure if that uses the .vz1 file format, but take a look.

Have you checked out cliff's free vz sounds? I think they are in standard sysex format.

Another option would be to open the vz1 file, determine how it differs from sysex format, and rebuild it by hand so it works as sysex.

Also, make sure you have the right settings in the VZ to transfer the file.

Hope this helps.

Hi Steve,

I have been able to successful transit sysex sounds to my VZ10 with SysEx
Librarian on the Mac. I believe MidiOX will do something similar on the PC.
In order for it to work successfully you need to make sure you set to data
transfer rate to something the synth can manage. General, the computer can
send it faster than the synth can receive it, so experiment with slowing
down the send rate if it errors out at first.

I had no luck trying to do this via Cubase.

Cheers
Rob

I use midi-ox on my VZ10m with windows 7 pc works well, but do run into the to fast transmitting errors, can you tell me what an approptiate transfer rate would be?Its very important that you set memory protect to off,and save yor original patches to a file or you will loose them when you dump your memory.

Re: [CZsynth] Re: Loading VZ-1 Patches

Hi Vince,

Sorry I haven't got back to you sooner, unfortunately my VZ10M is packed
away at the moment, however I do recall the setting being at the low to
medium end of the scale. From what I recall, you can't set it too slow,
just too fast. Setting it very slow still works, it can just end up being
inconveniently slow....

Hope that helps.

Cheers
Rob
