Introduction and a question - VZ-1

Glad to find this group and hopefully support for these great machines. I picked up a VZ-1 and love the capabilities and sounds. I've started to use both an editor and a sysex app but one strange thing is happening. Complete banks transfer over fine but if I try to load an individual patch or edit via the editor software it always puts everything in preset C5 no matter what preset I was on. e.g. I want to load a patch into A1 so I press A1 and transfer the patch - it goes into C5. If I change preset then the editor recognises this and goes into a graphical editor. However, change any parameter and the VZ changes to preset C5 with the changes. I've used two different programs with the same result. Is this something very basic or a foible of the VZ?
