CASIO CZ-1000 PROBLEM

I am in contact with a guy who sells a Casio CZ-1000 for 100 euro, but he says it has a problem, after he changed the battery he can`t change sound, as long as he restarts the synth everytime, that means he can play the first patch, brass, but to switch to another one he needs to keep the knob for that sound pushed and restart the synth. I am not sure if it is still possible to change the all the parameters etc
He said, before he changed the battery everything was working smooth.
Did it happen to anyone? Is it fixable?
