I have replaced display in my CZ3000, it was easy as the display is standard. Now I have checked manual for CZ230S and seeing the pictures there the display doesn’t look like standard. So I’m afraid there’s hardly any chance to replace it, only if you can get exactly the same display. It’s not new instrument so display is probably out of production and it’s a question if somebody offers it. Maybe from some instrument which is totally dead… But maybe the problem is not in the display… Try to check if display gets some voltages and data. I can’t give more detailed advice as I haven’t Service manual for this instrument. Daniel Forro

I have completely disassembled it, checked the ribbon connector and circuit board, still can't get it to work. I am Jokeyman on the Casio music forum, an old hand with CZs and current Casios. Thanks.

Here somebody offers Service Manual: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/casio-cz-230s-service-manual-616941954 Here is some detailed info about this instrument: http://weltenschule.de/TableHooters/Casio_CZ-230S.html Quite frankly said, it has no sense to repair it from more reasons, the main one is a lack of programmability. Try to get some other CZ model, I would recommend CZ1 because it has velocity and aftertouch. There is service manual for it available, and display replacement for modern one with LED backlight is possible. Daniel Forro

OK thanks. It is a different LCD than the other czs, a single line display with a different connector inside.
I am not a DIYer and have never had the CZ-230S. I am pretty sure I have seen other people talk about replacing the LCD foil on other CZs, but that would have been a decade or so ago. No sure if that's your problem. I vaguely recall someone asking if the CZs could be retrofitted with LCDs with a backlight and possibly someone mentioned where to pull the power from. Again, not sure if that is your problem, and these memories are from when my brain wasn't so old.I think there are still some qualified DIYers here who can provide more specific details. On the outside chance I will stumble on the posts or sites I saw, I will share them.StevePosted by: smw-mail@prodigy.netReply via web post • Reply to sender • Reply to group • Start a New Topic • Messages in this topic (2)</Have you tried the highest rated email app? With 4.5 stars in iTunes, the Yahoo Mail app is the highest rated email app on the market. The 230s display is not standard, containing manufacturer symbols not in an off-the-shelf component. I have instructions for replacing the 1000/101 display online. http://templarseries.atspace.com/cz.html LEE

The 230s is a very odd machine, and what it lacks in voice/patch programmability,it makes up for in the sequencer/drum machine. Patches 96-99 are RAM,not ROM and can be modified using files from CZ101/1000 although it's a real pain to do and requires a SYSx program like MIDIox and the instructions of how to transmit the 101/1000 file. The sequencer/drum machine programming is not particularly user friendly, but Vince Clarke has used it in the past I believe,so with some tenacity it's possible to get results from it that perhaps were not readily self evident. One review I read called it 'a wolf in sheep's clothing' - with which I would agree. LEE
