To those with download problems.

To those with download problems.

2002-07-24 by coleporter_americangenius

I just downloaded the file twice successfully from Yahoo.

I did so via two methods:

1) right clicking and saving the file
2) single left clicking and waiting for the file to load

I did notice that the first time I tried to download via the first
method, I only got a very tiny file. The second time I did it,
immediately afterwards, the full 4.5MB downloaded.

My only ideas on this problem at the moment:

1) Make sure you have the latest version of Adobe Acrobat plug-in on
your system. I created this PDF using Acrobat 5. Download the
latest version here, if you don't have it:

http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

2) Yahoo may be having server problems. If my experience above is
any indication, you can get the file by trying again.

3) Perhaps the group has exceeded its daily download limit?

4) There is a fellow in the group who offered to host the group
files on his website. If he wants to, he can copy the files to his
site, and you can download from him.

Those are my only ideas on the subject at this moment; I've been
able to download the file successfully twice, and others here also
report success, so I'm pretty sure the file itself is not corrupt.

For those of you that are having problems downloading from Yahoo, I have
put both parts of the manual on my web server.
I hope this helps.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks so much, Troy.

The problem with downloading from Yahoo is not related to version of Acrobat, as was
suggested.

I see this problem on lots of my yahoogroups, and I always right-click and select "save
Target as..." So Acrobat isn't even started.

I also don't think it's a problem with quota, as when this happens, Yahoo just says
"this group is over quota."

I think it's a bug in either yahoo's servers, or an IE bug that only exhibits this
behavior in certain circumstances.

Regardless, I see it A LOT on the many YAHOO GROUPS I belong too--and it's been a
problem for a long time.

If you try long enough--you might actually succeed getting a big file downloaded.

Thanks, again, Troy.

No problem,
But don't forget about Jeremy who actually took all the time to scan all
those pages and convert it to pdf.

Thanks again Jeremy.

They're still there just in another location
http://www.xiphidium.com/manuals/casio/

The other location was just temporary for those few people that wanted
to download them right away.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
