FZ synthesis - mixing waves

hi, as I understand it, you can mix two samples, but you cannot mix a sample with a preset wave or an additive synthesis created wave (I am not talking about layering them together but instead using the wave mix or cross mix function), is that correct or am I missing something here?

when doing additive waves you are creating samples once they are rendered as samples you can do what you want to do with them with the sampling features of the fz1

hi Jammie and thanks for the quick answer, but I cannot get it to work, when in mix or cross mix function, if either of the two ingredients are preset wave or additive wave (the other being a sample I created from sampling function), all I get when I hit "execute" is "voice No error". So please can you explain what I'm doing wrong?

you need to make the additive wave into a sample for it to work
it wont work with just the synth engine as there is no sample to minipulate
you have to turn the additive wave into a sample first once it is mapped then save as a sample instrument
then reload that sample instrument and cross mix with the other sample

Can someone explain the cross mix function? I am not sure I actually tried it. Is the idea to alter the sample up and down the keyboard or during an envelope cycle (much like morphing?) - I imagined the former,since the CZ types can alter the juxtaposition of phase angle up and down the keyboard and DX alter the relative FM for mimicking the changes in harmonics on a real instrument due to frequency.
Is that what cross mix is for?

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
