In fact this is how I am still able to use it, by plugging in a Yamaha 
12VDC supply. But for the amount of current the Evolver is spec'd to 
need you have to get a pretty hefty wall-wart (i.e. the Yamaha) or one 
of the fancy switching power supplies like the original. Unfortunately 
finding the latter is a bit harder as they are usually custom-made 
items for each manufacturer.
