I have also had some odd behavior in my PEK in combi mode - but not what
you describe, but maybe similar.

When in combi mode, if I edit patch 1's Cutoff, and then switch the
panel to patch 2, the value starts editing from the *last value of patch
A*.  I know that sounds wierd, but essentially it means that if patch A
has a FC of 100 and I lower it to 60, when I switch to patch B it all
sounds normal until I edit FC and then the FC value jumps first to 60
regardless of what value patch B has stored and was playing.  It took me
a bit to get a handle on it but it happens every time.  

Generaly, I work with my synths in single mode, so this hasnt been a
problem for me. I can see how others would be very frustrated though..
