Do you have a non-zero filter-env-velocity setting[*]?  That might explain
it -- keyboard playing will probably have different velocities that
sequencer-triggered notes (I'm not sure what velocity notes triggered by
the sequencer will have ... I guess either 64 or 128 seem possible ??)
