I sent this to just the general mail address at Dave Smith Instruments so I hope it gets to him eventually. I thought I'd post what I sent in case somebody here had any ideas. I just bought a Mono Evolver Keyboard and was comparing it to my Evo desktop which I've had for years now. I've noticed that over the years some of my patches have changed sound slightly(some more than slightly). It wasn't until I got the MEK that I really noticed how significantly it(the desktop) has changed. I'd load up identical patches and the MEK would be crystal clear but the desktop would not. Also, in many of the patches there has developed a lot of noise with them(low white noise and some crackling). And some of my sequence patches just don't sound the same at all when I compare them to recordings I did more than three years ago. I wonder if the machine being on 24 hours a day for years now has worn away some of the chips inside. I have already changed the processor chip once(fairly recently). I don't think that's what it is. Could you suggest a course of action for me? Thanks a lot. Steve
