i hadnt heard of an 'encoder replacement' option--just the $400 Pot replacement. I didnt see that $75 option offerred on the DSI website. Certainly this whole matter with the encoders not holding up and the PE 'upgrade?" seems like a thinly glossed over RECALL of inferior parts--which we the consumers get to pay for . (how would lets say Toyota have responded???) anyhow, I dont have a problem with WORKING encoders, but im still wondering how the pots perform in real life -- is it easy to select a value with such a narrow range of rotation? ________________________________ From: plexus <musiclists@...m> To: DSI_Evolver@yahoogroups.com Sent: Sat, February 12, 2011 12:08:51 PM Subject: [DSI Synths] Re: Potentiometer 'upgrade' --- comments? is it a good thing? I opted not to get the pot "upgrade" as it was too expensive. And, I also felt that I should not have to pay such an amount of money to really, in the end, fix a manufacturing issue. I don't have strong feelings about DSI not offering to replace everyone's encoders that are bad, but I am leaning towards that i should be something that would have been nice for them to offer especially in an instrument in this class. However, DSI offered to replace all the encoders with new apparently better ones for the cost of $25 a board (there are 3 so $75) plus shipping. so for about $100 the problem will apparently be solved. they use a 3rd party to do the work and I understand my boards should be sent back to me soon. I don't really want the pots but having working encoders would be just great. so i am hoping this fixed the problem. we shall see... Brett
