Evolver Question/Future Suggestions

Evolver Question/Future Suggestions

2002-12-15 by kpr77

Hi Evolver list,
I was wondering whether someone with a bit of Evolver experience might be able to help/offer some advice.
Is there any way of varying the gate time of a sequence step and/or tieing two steps together (ie. simluting a held down key) ?
Any help appreciated.
Cheers
Simon

Simon -

Currently, there is no such feature...it's my personal 'most wanted'
feature, I'm not sure if it'll make it in due to some complications
implementing (it would increase the memory required for each patch
quite a bit). The best thing I can suggest is to email Dave and let
him know you'd like such a feature.

It can be simulated though - I know there are some presets in Bank A
that have sustained notes across sequencer steps. I think if you set
a step to "rest" it simply will not trigger the gate - and if the
Decay and Sustain is set high enough the note should play until the
next trigger. (Correct me if I'm wrong here, or if I've misunderstood
your question). Another way to do this is simply turn the VCA Level
up so you get the "drone" effect - but you won't get any silence out
of a rest that way.

Sequence 1 is special- it contains a setting called "Off,"
near "rst" (reset). Off means that step will not trigger the
envelopes, and will hold the last value the sequence contained.
This can be used to make sustained notes and rhythmic sequences.

Seq's 2-4 do not have off. If you want to sustain a value there,
you have to set the value to the same as the previous step's value.

But this does nothing about creating a longer gate time :) As
someone suggested, you can set long release times with a long
attack time to create an approximation of an attack that's slower
than a half of a single step.
