By what method were the new patches created? Desktop Evo panel?
Software editor? PEK panel? Inquiring minds want to know.

Re: [Evolver] Re: 3.0 2cents

2005-08-24 by Stefan Trippler

Afaik Dave Bryce programmed mainly from the PEK panel.
My contributions were programmed with the Soundtower editor on a PER. I
would have tried the PEK panel too if I had had one at that time ;)
Many patches are from older PER or Mono Evolver soundsets and were modified
for keyboard playing and adapted to the new OS.
A complete list of sound designers is in the PEK Manual.

Stefan

Re: [Evolver] Re: 3.0 2cents

2005-08-24 by Scott Kellogg

Excellent!

I am stepping up my Mono Evolver programming efforts, now that I have my
Monomachine set ready to go. I intend to integrate the Monomachine and
Evolver for my next series of compositions. If you guys are willing to
give me advice and field what might be a series of silly questions, I
would appreciate it.

Originally, I intended for the Evolver simply to serve as a bridge
between Monomachine songs, so I could make smoother transitions. But I
knew from the moment I heard the Evolver in person that I wanted it to
be much more than a bridging instrument. I have gotten the basic
(signal flow, simple sequencing, simple routing) under my belt, and now
I'm ready to take the next step into writing programs that are more
sophisticated.

I'm also considering getting a knob box to go with my Evolver 3.0. The
Control Freak Live is the current favorite, since it will merge incoming
MIDI. That way, I can send clock and sequencing data from the
Monomachine, through the Live, and into the Evolver. Does anyone here
have experience with the Live?

/Scott

PEK panel. I find that the layout really opened up the engine for me. I must have written
something like 100 programs for the thing...

As previously noted, Stefan wrote a bunch of the new programs as well...

I find myself wanting to lust after the PEK, but I've still got miles
and miles to go on desktop machine.

Maybe someday ;)

I must say when I got my PEK yesterday (yay !!!) I was surprised to see I
was still on the list as I had created my contribution of programs for the
PE rack a while back. And I wouldn't say I'm much of a sound designer at
this point. Seems a few have remained in the Pek though. The PEK really does
open this synth up. I seem to get lost (in a good way) in it for hours so
far.

It was Stokes' clips that convinced me to buy the Evolver.

The Evolver is a synthesizer.
You should step through the factory sounds once, then delete them all and
create your own sounds ;-)

Totally. Although it helps having a few patches on it that you like,
in order to reverse-engineer and learn from them.
