And sales people never lie, right? ;) If you want to hear it full-range,
hook a walkman or a small CD player up to it and listen to the high
frequency. This is what you will lose with a bass-only amp. They are not
designed to produce frequencies above, oh lets say 8 to 10 khz? There
really isnt much bass to produce up above 8khz, except fingering noise..

As for the amp, 100watts seems light to me. I would imagine you would
exhaust the caps in the amp on each kick leaving not much power for
mids-highs. Myself, if you're only renting, I would rent what as close to
what I would consider buying and that way I could see what it sounded
like "in action".  Just my $0.02 :)
