Seriously, it would be great to have the manuals available as a searchable .pdf , downloadable from Yamaha (or us). Perhaps midi-savy members could then add simple directions for getting connected. I've toyed with the midi thing but didn't get far due to the lack of real detail in the Yamaha manuals.Jules Freeman wrote:
Thanks Vivien, That's exactly what I needed. I cant understand why themanual doesn't mention the driver and where to download it. Thanks again. This is based upon RS232 serial technology.OK, I have no problem with this, I run a Korg X5D that uses a very similar host interface. However, regarding the DTXpress, Where is the driver?I am sure that this type of hook up requires a suitable driver, may be there is some new technologyhere that I am not accustomed to. But if I am correct, this seems to be Yamaha's best kept secret! Has anyone got the host interface working, can you help with a driver? Jules Freeman (Ourgate Studios.)Community email addresses:

Hi Mark,
Now that I have the driver that Vivien suggested I will be able to get the
host
serial interface working. I will try when I have some time in a couple
of days and
let you know how it goes.
I have experimented with some home made pads, They work great but the feel
is
not as good as the genuine Yammy ones. I reckon that I will easily be able
to rig
up a rim pad on the snare pad to produce rim shots! Also the set up cries
out for
an extra cymbal pad. I may make this to save cash. When I get it sorted I
will email
the details. I am using what I learnt from making triggers for my Roland
SPD20, the same
system seems to work fine with the DTXpress.
Catch you later,
Jules Freeman (Ourgate Studios)
