Pete,

You have the DTXv2.0, right? If so, it may exhibit anomalies that
aren't present on the DTXpress modules, since its triggering section
is the oldest in the Yamaha arsenal. It's also much more complicated
than any DTXpress; without intensive firsthand experience with it, it
would be hard to assess its sensitivity with the new pads. I thought
that the new pads would be more likely to work well with it than mesh
heads would, but maybe not. Why don't you see if you can get
Yamahammer at DTXperience to field your question. He may not have an
answer right away, but he might be able to get technical assistance
from someone still familiar with the unit.
