Kick pad pros-n-cons

2001-05-24 by tdjme@yahoo.com

Guys, over the last few days I have been reading the comments about
how clunky the DTXpress kick pad is, how hard, and how noisy. I gotta
tell ya, I love it.

I grew up playing drums with a fast foot - I learned to play listening
to drummers that I later learned were playing double bass, so I was
playing double bass patterns with a single pedal. With the DTXpress
kick pad, I agree it might have been designed to be a bit more
cosmetically appealing, but I can do some awesome triples and doubles
on the thing, with any bass drum voice I want. To do that on a
acoustic bass drum would mean retuning, getting the right tension on
the head, etc...

The sound of the stealth pad left me cold. It's made of stress gel
stuff? How do you get decent action on that? I also have never been
a fan of making the beater go in a different direction - it just
doesn't have the same 'feel'.

Does anyone else out there agree with me?
