If you use a mono plug the DTX will think the rim switch is always
made.  The DTXpress ignores this, so I suspect the DTX does as well
(probably so you can use mono cables!).  For the pad, all you will be
doing is shorting out the rim switch - again it will do no harm that I
can think of.
