I've been using headphones and listening to the list discussion on the amp issue. This MF ad link came the other day, B stock (refurbed) units going at $150. The site says they come with the standard 1-year warranty. Theoretically you aren't buying at any greater risk than new products and I am postulating that the B stocks have actually had a better going-over than the new ones ;-) http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/search?d=tn&it=9AZT&pg=65&src=3NL5CNA&c_lid=d3 I went for a BX1200 ($150) along with a KX to pair up for extra bottom end ( as well as bass practice ). They are out of the BX1200s at the moment but look like they are expecting more at the same price. $150 looks good for the KX1200 on it's own since other vendors are still asking around $200 new. If you want to pair them like I plan to, you can try ordering the BX now at the B-stock price and see if you get one.
