I did end up looking at some Roland triggers and there seems to be a range of mechanisms, one of which might make less noise. I was looking here <http://www.achamilton.co.uk/drums/KickTrigger.htm>, I haven't the faintest clue how the KD7 works, for instance, but it might make less noise. My Yamaha supplier wouldn't vouch for a Roland part, and ACHamilton, being Roland suppliers, wouldn't vouch for their part triggering a Yamaha brain. U just need to try one, I guess. J
