I just asked the same thing and no-one really knows. I did end up
looking at some Roland triggers and there seems to be a range of
mechanisms, one of which might make less noise.

I was looking here

faintest clue how the KD7 works, for instance, but it might make less
noise.

My Yamaha supplier wouldn't vouch for a Roland part, and ACHamilton,
being Roland suppliers, wouldn't vouch for their part triggering a
Yamaha brain. U just need to try one, I guess.
