John,

It always hard to justify spending someone else's money, but I'd say 
that anyone looking to improve response and feel over the TP65 with a 
rubber pad couldn't do any better than the DTXtreme options.  I can't 
imagine anyone thinking that the difference was subtle, that's for 
sure. The red knob won't work on the III, but the pad itself is still 
a winner. By the way, OGD (OldGuyDrummer) has owned every Yamaha kit 
ever produced (except the DTXpressI). He'd be a good source of opinion 
about this issue. Hopefully, he'll jump in. If so, hi OGD. Let's catch 
up.
