" By the way, OGD (OldGuyDrummer) has owned every Yamaha kit ever produced (except the DTXpressI). " Ed Not really, even though I think the wife thinks so sometimes. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------- There is a major difference in the construction of the two pads types, TP65 and the TP100/120. The TP65 is rubber covering a metal disk that floats on the rim of the bottom plastic housing and has very little give. The TP100/120 is rubber on a 3/8" dense composite board and the rubber is much thicker than on the TP65, so you get more of a rebound and a better feel in my opinion. The metal disk backing on the TP65/80 just did not have a lot of give. There are pics of the TP65 here at the Dtxpress site and there are photos of the inside of the TP100/120 pads on the Yahoogroups/dtxtreme site. The larger playing surface of the TP100/120 also helps in playing cross-stick. Had I not fully upgraded to the Dtxtreme IIS, I would have at least upgraded the snare on my Dtxpress II. Ed, I was just thinking about shooting off a PM to you. I guess Vern is fully into the "Halloween production mode" by now (Vern??). I also need to write up a review of the Smartrigger cymbal Marty sent me to review. Also, as noted on the Dtxperience site, they have "officially" made public, they are working on a new kick pad to address the problems that they are having with the KP65, for those that don't visit that site.
