Re: Midi Sync

2005-11-10 by zapaxe

Ah, I understand what you're saying now...

In Cubase VST, in the Arrange Window, I must select which midi
instrument go's to the In & Out of each midi track.

In my own case with Cubase & the DTXpressIII module, I'm using a
single 'To Host' serial cable instead of the two regular midi cables
in/out, so in the instrument select, I have to select the Yamaha CBX
driver as my midi instrument device in the Arrange Window to make my
DTXpress module work with the 'To Host' cable.

If say I have a midi drum track in Cubase (whether I played it
myself or put a pre-made midi drum file there) that I then want my
DTXpress module to play, I have to select the CBX driver as my midi
instrument out from Cubase. If I use my regular midi cables in &
out, I selct my Aardvark sound card as the midi out instead. Not
sure how Cakewalk routes midi...?

It sounds like your Cakewalk program is triggering your DTXpress
module to automatically play it's 'thang'. I'd have to think that
the DTXpress module is set somehow to recieve that kind of command,
though maybe Cakewalk is 'giving' that command, the module still, is
responding. Off hand, I'm not aware at all of any setting without
reading the manual, that the DTXpress can recieve a 'play' message,
but this does sound like something that would be a feature as with
many midi commands & messages, beyond.

Is your DTXpress set to recieve midi channel 10? Is Cakewalk sending
on midi CH 10? Are you using General Midi? Or other?

Just stabbing at some idea's here :)
