I have recently done this by using a standard stereo 1/4" jack -> two mono 1/4" jacks. This is the same cable as you would use to separate a stereo output to two mono inputs (such as to get to / from a mixer board or something). I have used this cable with a TP65 and a custom splash cymbal which I made, with no crosstalk or anything. I don't know why you are getting double triggering, perhaps the cable is not really a stereo -> 2x mono? I have no need for diodes or anything. Granted, both of these pads are single zone, but IIRC you cannot use anything other than this for ports 9 and 10 (or if you try to use them, they will function only as single zone pads). If I am incorrect, please somebody, correct me; as I said, it works fine for me.
