Tony, You can use the pad in socket 9/10, no problem, just assign the pads as the correct type (presumably a TP65) in the trigger menu and assign whatever voice you like to it. There is no real distinction between what is a cymbal or tom pad. As it is, the standard DTXpress uses a "tom" pad for the hi-hat! A standard stereo cable will do fine for connecting, although they are 1/4" (6.35mm) not 1/8". If you want to add yet another pad to the 9/10 input later you will need a stereo to mono splitter cable. Keith. ps. no spelling correction posts please - this is the DTXpress forum.
