J, That sounds like cymbal choking. If the choking has stopped working it may have a loose wire/connection floating around inside the cymbal, so it sporadically chokes. However, it could be the audio affecting it, but then you may be hitting differently (e.g. harder) when playing live, so that could be why it doesn't happen with headphones. Try a mono cable so choking cannot happen. Keith.
