Hi There, I have had the same problem with my dual trigger crash cymbal. I ended up taking it apart to find that the rim "choke" sensor is a dual metallic strip continuity switch (ie: 2 contacts held apart by mylar backing) This sensor runs through the plastic frame of the cymbal under the rubber striking surface at the centre of the cymbal circumference. The point where it passes through the frame was cracked on my cymbal, which in turn produced a hairline fracture in the metal of the switch/sensor. This left me with lots of fun playing live with some lovely inconsistencies and false triggering. Long story short, I made up a patch of metallic strip using packing tape and tin foil, peeled back the affected area of the sensor strip, glued the patch in place and plastic welded the frame to avoid the same thing happening all over again. Yes, I am notoriously cheap ! But it works with no ill effects and there was no need for my wife to wonder if I would ever stop spending, spending spending... Good Luck !
