My drummer and I played a gig earlier this year, and it rained... and
rained. His kick pad got wet before we played, and wouldn't work at all.
The next day, I took it apart and found the membrane sensor had gotten
wet. I tried everything to bring it back to life, but wound up buying
another membrane from Yamaha. It's easy to replace, and I think it wound
up around $25 including shipping.

Not much in the kick pad, so it's probably the sensor or a bad
connection on the 1/4" jack.

Good luck.
