Not sure about your setup, Giles, but I've got my DTXpress wired straight into the computer. To play with the MIDI files, I just opened my sequencer, set all of the track outputs to the MIDI out, muted the drum track and played along. The sequencer sends the data to the GM part of the brain. The sounds are quite good. If you have other MIDI instruments between the DTXpress and the computer, that complicates things but it should still be workable. I believe you can set each instrument to a different transmit and receive channel number.
