No,the TP60s are just a hair under 8 inches, edge to edge, and the TP80S, which you get as a snare in the latest DTXPRESS kit, is just a hair over, probably to accommodate the rim switch. The TP60 designation is confusing; some people think that it indicates 6 inches. It's just the least expensive Yamaha rubber pad. The current DTXPRESS has TP60 pads for the high hat and three toms. As far as I can tell, their piezos are just as responsive as the TP80S's. A beginner won't be disappointed.
