Hi Scott, Crosstalk is always going to be an issue, no matter what combination of devices you have. All you can do is work on the rack, and adjust(reduce) sensitivities. The more control a device gives you (like gain, sensitivity, rejection), the better off you'll be. The PM-16 is an older generation device, and as such does not have as much control as an xpress has. As for your thought of attaching just your extra pads to the PM-16 - I would say yes, that would be the way to go. Your other option is to go with multiple modules, and a mixer. Without a doubt you get the most control and flexibility with this option, as it sounds like you tried. I don't know how much the TD-5 offers in the way of trigger controls - if not as much as an xpress, you could consider getting a second xpress module. By the way mine is going on eBay, they seem to be fairly cheap.
