Hi Vern, I can take a crack at it from a PM-16 perspective, but the only components we have in this setup are the PM-16 and the xpressII. Our starting point will be with the PM-16 and the xpress II both reset to factory defaults. On the PM-16 (after plugging a pad into input 1 of the PM-16, and having the MIDI cable connected to MIDI out on the PM-16, MIDI in on the Xpress II): 1) in advanced edit mode select input one 2) change the MIDI channel to 10 3) set the MIDI note number to 15. save edits On the xpress II: 1) Go into the utilities and make sure MIDI params (PC=10, bulk dump, etc) are all set to allow MIDI. Also, switch on back is set to MIDI, although we are not using the Host Connect port, so I am not sure this matters. 2) go to User drum map and select MIDI note 15 3) change voice assignment to tom sound, and ensure volume is set to 127, and other parms are OK. Hit the pad and you get no sound. An interesting (but still not understood) side note - if we change the channel number to any value other than 10, we hear some sound, although I am not sure if it could be called a truck horn or not. Also, changing the note number (while still not on channel 10) does not seem to change the sound issued by the xpress II. Also, while we were on channel 10, we tried the same process with note number 13, still no sound.
