Walt, Thanks to you too as well. I'm actually printing this to give it a try tonight. As for the HH pedal, the one that came with the set is the HH65; I've noticed that id actually does cover the entire sweep from wide open to closed, and there's even a mention of that in the user manual (flyer) that came with it. I noticed when I'm just opening & closing the pedal without hitting the HH pad, in addition to the closed HH "clicks" I'm also getting a random open HH sound thrown in as a bonus ;-) I suspect this falls into the Rejection settings you mentioned.
