RE: [DTXpress] Re: DTXpressII on eBay...

Hey Oldguy,
I too was impressed by Yamaha's Customer Service. I
have been able to talk directly with Dave Ksycki-he's
head of sales, I think (he knows what's in the
warehouse) and Dave Jewell, who is head of marketing.
I had the "upgrade bug" too, and didn't wanna invest
$400 in another DTXII module for my extra cymbals and
pads (I will be getting more pads in the future) so I
was directed to get either a MidiKiti or PM-16. I
found a Midi Kiti, but I couldn't get drum voices to
sound-I got keyboard-even when BOTH modules were on Ch
10...MIDI Voices ( I wanted to take a ride cymbal
voice from the DTX and send it to the Kiti where I had
my ride plugged in to, and all I got was a honking
noise)...It was MIDI HELL...even the guys in the group
were stumped...we, as group thought there was a
problem w/the DTX module. Other guys were beginning
to have the same problem as me, specifically with the
PM-16. To make a LONG story short, I was referred to
Dave Jewell (via Dave Ksycki), Mr Jewell said he would
have their top MIDI DTX guru, Martin, call me. If he
couldn't fix the problem I was having, then they
thought there could possibly be a flaw in the modules
(meaning ALL DTXII modules!!!!). If that was the
case, Dave Jewell would contact the engineer of the
DTX module in Japan-he told me the man's name, but I
can't remember it. Well, the very next day, Martin
called me, and we went thru all the MIDI set up...for
one thing I had 2 MIDI In/Out cords...I only needed 1,
and because the Midi Kiti and the DTX module were set
to Ch10, he walked me thru on how to troubleshoot MIDI
portions on the DTX module. The next thing he had me
do was a Factory Reset...and guess what?....It fixed
the problem! I was VERY impressed with Yamaha's
Customer Support, and yes, the DO know and watch our
forum...we have clout. WHAT other e-drum company
cares about their customers like Yamaha? Roland is a
nightmare, if ya read their posts on vdrums.com
Needless to say, I ended up buying another DTXII
module. It was too frustrating leaving the Midi Kiti
on all the time...if ya shut it off, you would have to
re-program it. The Midi Kiti is a great piece of
equipment...fun to work with, and
"train"...considering it was made in the 80's, it was
very far advanced technically. That is how I know a
chip can upgrade a module. In the Kiti manual it
shows how to install and upgrade the Kiti.
I am trying to sell the Midi Kiti-so if ya know of
anyone who wants to expand their kit-point them my
way. I am anxiously waiting for the NEW DT Extreme
module, I may be selling my new DTXII modules.
Before I forget....I LOVE your kit-totally awesome!!
Sorry so long winded!
