Yamaha DTXpress/DTXplorer/DTXtreme

Hi, 

I searched the archive for tips on layering but one thing still 
puzzles me: can I set different gain values for V1 and V2 sounds? How 
is it done? From some of the posts I've got the impression it's 
possible but can't understand how. I'm trying to crossfade a bell to 
a ride sound but the bell (V2) is sounded way too easily (even when 
I'm not hitting that hard). The crossfade setting is on 9 already. 
Can I somehow elevate the point where the bell is triggered?

One more thing: why isn't the "layer balance" setting functioning 
with my layered (V1+V2) sounds?

BTW, I only got my kit a couple of days ago :). This forum has been 
of tremendous help to me 'cos the manual mostly sucks!
