I have consistently pointed out the following to anyone that is contemplating the purchase of a e-drum that live above/beside (condo/apartment) other people or to anybody that has just purchased a set, before they play it for the first time. Before you purchase, get to know your neighbors and see what their temperment is. If they are constantly complainly about any/all loud events, even with the best sound insulation platform, you will still get on their nerves. If they are level headed and easy going, get to know them first. When the kit first arrives, invite them up/over and let them try their hand at it. (New toys are fun for even non-drummers). The better you know your neighbors, the easier it is going to be. I have done many freebie favors for the neighbors and I have played at all hours of the day/night without a single complaint. Even when I had an acoustic set growing up, after cutting the neighbors grass or shoveling the snow for free several times a year, I never got a single complaint. The moral is: Family/friends rarely complain, but strangers almost always will.
